... Because 59 shots should get you a "W" no matter what...

Welcome to the Shipbuilders, Maxxim Feener
Commandos get it done and make it very interesting in the process, defeating the Metro Shipbuilders in Dartmouth by a count of 6-4... and, just like their home opener in September, coming back from a 3-0 hole against the Ships to pull it off. Joel Blanchard and - who else - Danny Chiasson put up three points a piece and nine Dieppe players walk away with at least a point. That being said, the biggest individual performances of the night go to Metro, with JP Harvey netting a hat trick and four points and Hackett's Cove native Maxxim Feener making 53 saves on 59 Commando shots in a losing - but extremely valiant - effort in his second start after being dealt from Yarmouth. I'd like to think Feener just earned a handful more starts - as well as the right to kick all of his teammates square between the cheeks - after that type of performance. Dieppe has cobbled together a modest two game winning streak going into arguably their toughest test of the year, a date with the Truro Bearcats Saturday night in Colchester County. After tonight, Dieppe leads the league in goals scored... Truro is second. Truro has given up a league low 53 goals... Dieppe, almost double that (104 to be exact). What happens on the weekend between these two teams is really anybody's guess.

Meanwhile in Rouyn-Noranda, the Cats and Huskies are tied 1-1 after 40 minutes of play. Cats seem to be holding their own in this one... and at a time where each win seems to making a statement as to the legitimacy of this team among the teams in the upper echelon of the league, a win in arguably one of the toughest buildings to play in on the back of a strong third period would definitely be another step in the right direction...as well as a tremendous start to this roadie.

Coming up tomorrow... what the NHL players and owners had for dinner, and what to do on a Wednesday night in Val d'Or.

  1. After 53 saves, Feener deserved first star
